OUR MISSION
We are passionate about creating timelessly elegant millinery that is comfortable to wear. We believe in the transformative power of millinery to elevate an ensemble and imbue a natural confidence in the wearer. Our mission is to provide our customers with that very special finishing touch to complete their look for special occasions and making memories.
OUR STORY
Alison found her way into the world of millinery rather circuitously. A qualified Solicitor, she worked in the legal world for many years, but was always interested in craft techniques and design projects. Her grandmother was an artist as were several other family members so perhaps it was inevitable that she would finally find her way into the world of design. In 2015, Alison started her business in an old Coach House on the family farm, following in the footsteps of her maternal great-grandmother who had trained as a milliner herself many decades before. Very quickly, the business grew, expanded online and introduced it’s very popular Hat Hire service. The Coach House Studio is now synonymous with couture millinery and Alison’s designs are worn at race meetings, weddings and special occasions all over the world.
TRADITION
Millinery techniques, that are centuries old, are used in the design of our headpieces. With a tireless attention to detail and our prized collection of millinery blocks, including some vintage, heritage pieces, hours of craftmanship are lovingly dedicated to the creation of each headpiece.
SUSTAINABILITY
From re-using packaging where possible, to incorporating re-cycled materials and fabrics, sustainability is very important to us. Hiring a hat is a very sustainable way to incorporate millinery into a look for a special occasion but we have gone one step further and created our Sustainable Vintage Collection. Each piece in this capsule collection has been designed using a vintage hat or fabric as the base material - the finished designs, which are available to hire, are fabulously unique, couture headpieces sustainably enabling the vintage styles of the past to be loved into the future.
